REHM DUAL.WAVE

The REHM DUAL.WAVE welding process is a combination of the REHM AC welding process, the REHM DC welding process and, if required, the REHM HYPER.PULS welding process. When welding aluminium, the oxide layer that would otherwise hinder welding must first be removed. Therefore, in addition to an excellent ignition process, a more or less high proportion of positive polarity is required on the tungsten electrode. These properties cause the oxide to be ‘torn open’ and removed. Only now can welding take place.

Without an oxide layer, aluminium, such as CrNi, would be weldable. The REHM DUAL.WAVE welding process utilises this fact. Once the oxide layer has been removed, the REHM process control switches from AC welding to DC welding. The duration of the AC or DC phase can be set by the user.

The benefit

  • During the phase in which welding is carried out with direct current, the weld pool calms down. An outgassing effect occurs, which leads to less pore formation on contaminated components.
  • During the direct current phase, the entire energy of the arc is channelled into the workpiece. This means that the average welding current can be reduced compared to conventional AC welding.
  • Beginners in the field of AC welding can master the weld pool more quickly and safely.
  • The DUAL.WAVE welding process is ideal for TIG welding in constrained positions.
